5 places where blog inspiration lurks

Cats Sleep Blog Ideas Lurk Anywhere

Cats sleep Blog ideas lurk anywhere, any table, any chair.
Top of piano, window-ledge, in the middle, on the edge.
Open drawer, empty shoe, anybody's lap will do.
Fitted in a cardboard box, in the cupboard with your frocks.
Anywhere! They don't care! Cats sleep Blog ideas lurk anywhere.

(originally a poem called 'Cats Sleep Anyhwere' by Eleanor Farjeon (1881 - 1965), which I remember from many, many years ago. Adapted/edited for my own purposes...)

Here are the most common places I find my inspirations

1. Cycling to work
Asides from the 'oh it's so cold why isn't my scarf working' and 'don't rain, don't rain', my daily cycle to work is a good time for a solid uninterrupted think!
2. In the shower
I think it's normally because I write blog posts in the evening around the same time as taking a hot shower (especially in this weather!)
3. Invigilating
I often invigilate exams, and although one has to be very... vigilant, there is only so much being vigilant one can do without wandering thoughts that go beyond how minutes of the exam is left. Thinking about my blog during this time has become a regular spot for a little quiet time of focused thoughts.
4. In places where you're meant to paying attention but you're not...
It will happen, usually during a work presentation of some sort, or during a meeting, that a haven of inspiration will suddenly arrive and I'll realise I haven't taken anything in for a while...
5.  Mid-converstation
It's definitely unintentional on the part of the converstaionee but he/she'll say something and it'll somehow become a jump start for inspiration!

Where does your blog inspiration hide?

  1. Haha, number 4 is me.. every time i start concentrating on a big work project inspiration hits xx

    1. Yeah! If there are ever gaps in my meeting notes or anything I know it's because I was probably distracted by something blog related! :) xx
